2023 February Newsletter

                                                February 2023 Newsletter

Hello all.

We had a good campout at Mineola but only had five rigs present! Jerry Scott, H.L., Mary and Ruth Howell came to enjoy our Tuesday Luncheon and attended the Business Meeting.  It looks like if we don’t get more members coming to the campouts in a rig we may have to stop having our Tuesday Pot Lucks!!  That would be awful because even though all members cannot come in a rig we do love seeing everyone on Tuesdays!!  We had lots of discussion about this at the business meeting seeking a good solution. It was suggested that we may could increase our annual dues or ask all members to make a donation to our petty cash account, designating these funds to be only used when necessary for obtaining the use of the activity room. As of now the only place that does not require us to have a certain number of rigs is Salmon Lake and we don’t know how long this will last.  Mineola asks that we have at least 7 rigs at this time.  Camp Tonkawa requires 10 rigs.  However, since their charges are lower we can, if we make the suggested changes to our petty cash, can pay the difference to use the activity room if we only have seven rigs present.

As the State Rally is April 4-7 (or 9th) we do not have a campout scheduled so Willie has gotten us a trip planned for April 24-27 at Blanco State Park, Blanco, Texas with some side trips into Fredericksburg, Luckenbach, The Pacific War Museum and Enchanted Rock!! Please come join us for a Dogwood Sam Caravan!!

Some do plan to go to the Four Day Gospel Singing at Seminole, Oklahoma that Shirley found out about and shared with Willie. It will be June 14-17, 2023. so if any of you would like to attend please let Willie know as soon as possible. Remember we do have a campout scheduled for June 26-28 at Mineola.

We were glad to hear that Mary’s son, Curtis is handling the medicine he is receiving in the Clinical Trials well at this time.

We were so glad to hear that Brenda’s brother Charles was taken out of ICU and hopefully he is on the mend after the trauma of losing his leg after surgery to remove a tumor from his bladder. I have just heard from Brenda that the infection has spread and he is in lots of pain but doesn’t want to lose any more of his leg. So please keep Charles in your prayers! He is wanting to go under hospice care so he can have pain meds as he needs them.

We also voted to change our Business Meetings back to Wednesdays following the morning Devotionals.

In looking at pictures sent daily by Willie’s daughter it looks like the are having a wonderful trip in Hawaii!!

Hope to see you all at Salmon Lake on the 20th!!!

Your Assistant Secretary,

Paula Hogg
