Dogwood Sams History and Motto

Good SamDogwood Sams was formed in July 1979. We are active in the Good Sam Club and the Texas Good Sam Chapters.  We are a part of Region IV and are located in Area 16 of the Texas Good Sams.

Dogwood Sams members originally were from the Palestine area, but now some members  are as far away as Lincoln,  Mineola,  Kennard, Chandler, Mt. Pleasant, Trinity and Dallas, Texas.

We have  a three day camp out each month. Normally, the camp outs begin on the Monday following the fourth Friday of each month. At our camp-outs everyone enjoys socializing, eating and playing a variety of games , especially Hand and Foot for the ladies and “80” for the guys. Mondays are spent setting up rigs, seeing each other after a month of personal happenings , snacking and playing games. On Tuesday, thanks to a lot of good cooks,  we enjoy a “Pot Luck” lunch followed by more socializing and games.  Each Wednesday we begin the day with a short Devotional followed by our business meeting. After which we all as a group go out to a local restaurant for lunch.  Then either some local shopping or back for more  fun and games.

We enjoy giving back to society by donating to the Palestine Hospice  program and the Special Olympics. We also help by donating staple food items to the Hospitality House at the State Prison System.

We are a non-smoking and non-drinking Christian group that enjoys the friendly fellowship and prayer support of other like-minded individuals. We welcome new members who enjoy clean fun and camping together as a group.
