DOGWOOD SAMS ANNUAL LUNCHEON

January 23, 2023
Wow!!

What a turnout we had for our Annual Luncheon. We missed Susan and Steven Jennings not being able to attend because they were participating in a Bridge tournament in Houston. Shirley Hamilton was too ill to come but Ray Hamilton was present. We need to continue our prayers for the Hamiltons. All our other members, including Ruth Howell were present, one guest, Darrell & Wanda Underwood’s daughter, Tammy, and one Honorary Member couple, Jerry & Brenda Scott. We had a whopping 25 in attendance! Absolutely AMAZING!! So happy to see Darrell & Wanda Underwood, we celebrated Wanda’s 91st birthday with her on this date and the Underwoods celebrated their 75th Anniversary on the 7th of January! Thanks to their daughter, Tammy, for bringing them to the luncheon, it is always a pleasure to have her attend our functions and we really appreciate her devotion to her parents.  Pictures of the event are available at https://dogwoodsams.texasgoodsam.com/2023-pictures/

Lester Thornton, our new president, introduced himself to the group and asked for guidance & assistance in his new position. We passed out the new membership roster and discovered an error with Wilma Clark’s phone number, please correct your roster to reflect her number, 903-XXX-XXXX (Please contact secretary for number so as to not publish online).

The revised camping schedule was also passed out and there were several errors discussed with some future changes to be made after our February campout. Our March campout is scheduled for the 3rd Monday and NOT the 4th Monday. It will stay on that date since that will give us 1 week in between the March campout and the State Rally on April 4-9. Page 2 There has been some discussion regarding a trip to Fredericksburg on April 24-27, this needs to be discussed at the February campout to find out how many would like to go. This time of year is normally a lovely time to see the blooming bluebonnets.

Another anticipated group trip would be June 14-17 for a gospel singing to be held in Seminole, Ok. Hope to have more details soon. Our September campout is scheduled for Sept.25-27 in Mineola and the Mini Rally is scheduled for Sept. 17-24 in Mineola, the week before. A number of things need to be discussed at the February campout; 1) if we want to leave our campout as is, 2)move it to the same week & have a meeting one day during the rally or 3)not have a campout that month as we have in the past? One more issue to be discussed during the February campout is do we want to add July & August campouts? Originally, we voted to delete those months due to the hot weather but it was only for that one year.

Thank you all for making our Annual Luncheon a great SUCCESS! Please consider all of these reminders and be prepared to discuss them fully at the February campout. Your INPUT is greatly appreciated! Willie & I will not be at the February campout, kids have a trip planned! Have an awesome time & we will see you in March.
