2019 Mini Rally in Canton Texas

Dogwood Sam Chapter Members:
Wow, did we have fun at the Mini Rally in Canton, TX. Last week! Willie and I, Shirley Coon, Curtis and Judy Coombs and Ben & Angela Starr arrived on Tuesday. Kenneth and Paula Hogg and Jerry and Brenda Scott arrived on Wednesday. We played games and learned a few new ones. Judy and Jerry were the only ones that placed in competition games. Willie and I participated in the “wet t-shirt contest”, (watch out Shirley Coon) and the “turtle races.” They were both lots of fun but we didn’t place. On Thursday we were so surprised to see Mitch and Ruth who brought H.L. and Mary and then Kenneth and Betty all showed up to help us with the Dessert Walk. About 10 minutes before the Dessert Walk we only had 6 or so desserts and were getting worried. Then all of a sudden they started coming out of the woodwork!! I mean, it really looked like a parade of ants bringing their goodies for the Dessert Walk. We had so many (38), they had to start giving away 2, 3 and toward the end, 4 at a time.
There were 86 rigs and that is lower than last year, seems each year gets a little less in
participation from our fellow Chapter members, not just our chapter but statewide there seems to be less interest in our chapters and the loyal members are getting older and having more health issues. Just can’t seem to interest the next generation.
Paula, Judy and I put on our skit (thank you Shirley Hamilton) but they almost forgot us!
Don’t know how that could happen with those costumes and faces!! Angela Starr was lucky and really racked up on the brown bag drawings, Christmas gift shopping DONE.
REMINDER;
Dues are due in October!
Unfortunately, we have officers who have decided to step down, so please search your hearts between now and our October 28-31 camp out in Gladewater to see if you can fill a position for without officers, we will have to shut down our chapter.
